A parametric optimization of the gearbox in steady vibration excited by gear kinematics transmission errors is presented. The process is based on the gearbox decomposition into two subsystems - the interior rotating subsystem and gear housing - joined by rolling-element bearing couplings. The condensed mathematical model of the gearbox in state-space is used for the calculation of complex conjugate modal values and for formulation of the nonlinear multiple objective function in the feasible domain. The method is applied to the car gearbox to decrease vibration in resonances.
