The results obtained from laboratory experiments carried out on various macroscopic blocks of masonry specimens as well as on meso-scopic samples of both phases (brick and mortar) at Klokner institute in Prague are summarized in this work. The mesoscopic samples were prepared with reference to expected numerical simulations, which draw on the existence of the Representative Volume Element (REV) combined with the theory of first order homogenization. The material parameters of individual phases were derived, however, following the Czech or European standards. Estimates of the shear parameters of joints describing the behavior of Interfacial Transition Zone (ITZ) are also presented.
