New technologies of highway concrete bridges construction require a more detailed analysis of bridges. Especially, the gradual construction has to be modelled because there are specific load cases which act only during a short period. Although the load cases disapear after a short time, they have significant influence on the behaviour of the concrete bridge. It is caused by the fact that the concrete is loaded very early and its stiffness is not developed to the final magnitude. The paper deals with modelling of gradual construction which reveals itself by changing the number of nodes and finite elements during the analysis.
