The rock bumps during mining excavation is studied in this paper. The bumps appear to be a very important danger for human lives, particularly when the bumps influence the stability of a mine face. Although they may appear inside the rock mass (because of local disturbances in the rock mass), and the influence of the face is relatively small, the material in the earth may change in such a way that the final effect is negative for the safety of the mining. The problem is studied theoretically, and results from scale model specially prepared for this purpose.
