Machine tools consist of work-holding and tool-holding devices. More important part of machine tools is a frame. It is usually consist of bed, column, cross rail, spindle head, table and right or left hand tool saddle. The aim of designers of the modern machine tools is to decrease deformation as more as possible. The deformation of heavy-duty machine tool frame due machine tools components weight can exceed deformation via machining forces. The resistance of machine tool frame of bending and torque relate to cross-section if it may be considered as beams. The paper deals with machine tool frame deformation in dependence on ribbing, wall thickness and material properties In the end is an extract of FEM analysis frame of different design version.
