Resvlts of transit gas pipelines corrosion damage research are presented. Project was supported by grant agency of eR and firm TRANSGAS as continuation of previous research resulting in limit load carrying capacity of pipeline damaged by surface corrosion defect computation methodology (LLCC) [lJ. Series consisting of surface defect scanning (including equipment based on optical method), FE-model generation and computation, plastic area postprocessing and limit pressure prediction using LLCC was established and verified via experiments. OUT attention was focused on groups of defects laying near each other. When using ANSI/ASME approach there is often important to determine whether evaluate group of pits as one defect, or as single pits or several subgroups. We developed approach based on ((bridges" between pits. If bridge is sufficiently small, pits are to be considered as one defect.
