The paper deals with the engineer design of the levitation magnet for transport systems and magnetic bearings. The optimal solution for the minimum whole volume of the iron and cooper is showed. The optimisation has been based on the thought that all the linear dimensions of the magnet have been expressed as multiples of the longitude module. It allows to compare the technical-utility features of the different dimension magnets with different modules. The optimal regulation structure for the position regulation has been designed on the base of the electromagnet´s mathematical model described in this proceeding. This regulation structure has been successfully optimised and simulated in MATLAB - SIMULINK. The problem is solved as a part of the project CEZ: J22/98: 26 22 000 10 and project GA43D013.
