Ductile fracture criteria are used for fracture prediction in metal forming processes. In this paper, there is briefly described the method of criteria verification and their characteristic quantities identification. Comparison of upsetting experimental results and results of upsetting numerical simulations is the base for criteria verification and evaluation. Results of selected group of criteria verification are presented. Characteristic quantities are determined and their independence on the stress-strain history during the forming process is evaluated. Successful criteria are then applied to the simulation of cold forming production of bolts. Brief comparison of the criteria, based on the results, is presented in conclusions.
