A qualitative analysis of influence of cross-flow shear on its interaction with a jet emanating perpendicularly from the wall is presented. The linear shear flow was generated using a deformed screen. The shear cross-flow case was compared with a comparative regular cross-flow case. The jet / cross-flow velocity ratio was of about 5 maintaining approximately the same shape of the jet centreline for both cases. As results, considerably higher velocity deficit in the jet wake has been observed for the shear cross-flow case than for the regular case. On the other hand the structure of the bend jet is very similar in both cases. Also the size of the zone of interaction is much larger in lateral direction for the shear cross-flow case.
