In this paper the authors presents the use of global optimization techniques as a viable tool for parametric model-based damage detection especially the application of genetic algorithm as a global stochastic optimization method in vibration-based damage detection process. The purposed method is applied to experimental data obtained from bolted structure measured in various damage states.
