As a result of the aims of the Research Centre for Machine Engineering Manufacturing Technology and Equipment (joint project of ČVUT Praha and SST Praha) and Subtask No. 3: Automatic Manipulation at Work Stations and in Manufacturing Systems (robotization and manufacturing logistics) work is in progress on the research, development, design, construction of the VUTBOT 2 autonomous, locomotive – mobile robot. Subtask No. 3 of Project No. 6 is to design, develop, manufacture, and (functionally and operationally) test an autonomous mobile robot intended for inter-operation transport in a flexible manufacturing system – multiprofessional automatic manufacturing system – with a pallet-less manipulation of the works. This contribution summarizes the partial results accomplished in the field of design and construction of the machineware, hardware, software and brainware in 2003 and concentrates on the following: Kinematic model of a real engineering product Multi-processor control system Control system submodules
