The contribution deals with a mathematical model of bending vibrations of a slender flexible rotor, excited by unbalance when passing the critical speed by means of its proper tuning. The maximal amplitude of bending vibrations at the passage depends on several parameters The analysis of the mathematical model revealed a way of parameters selection to obtain minimal amplitude during the passage. The mathematical model of rotor vibrations is presented in an abridged manner only, because this problem was already discussed in detail on the "Inženýrská mechanika 2003" Conference.
