In the present contribution, a numerical simulation of the nonlinear behaviour of the Charles Bridge in Prague with the emphasis on the heterogeneous character of the material is presented. The results summarize numerical two-level simulations of the historical masonry, performed on the 2D mesoscopic periodic unit cells and on the macroscopic 3D Charles bridge archsegment, respectively. The main goal of this article is the transfer of the material characteristics between meso and macro-scales. At the end, some results show a predisposition of some parts of the structure to damage in agreement with damage patterns observed for the real structure.
