For a complete description of two-phase flow a basic information about liquid phase formation is needed. The information is fulfilled in terms of nucleation rate and its dependency on quantities characteristic for gas-phase flow. One of devices used for measuring of nucleation rate in multi-component systems of vapors and gases is a shock tube. Unique modification of this device designed for measuring in chemically aggressive mixtures has been developed recently in the Laboratory of Phase Transition Kinetics in Institute of Thermomechanics, Academy of Sciences of The Czech Republic. The aim of the paper is to give a basic overview of the method for measurement of the nucleation rate. Special attention is paid to the design of each part of the laboratory setup.
