This report deals with equipment for slow cooling of continuously cast billets. The equipment development mainly consisted in temperature computations – billet cooling speed, heat transmission through the equipment walls, thermal load of the structure from the billets being cooled and from the billets loaded into the adjacent equipment. Moreover, the thermal load influence on the equipment structure was examined when opened and its uninsulated parts radiated. The computations were performed using computer by the finite element method. We took the computation results into account when designing the equipment and heat shielding of its exposed parts.
