Monitoring of the crack growth in grooved CT-sample by potential method
Balík J., Korec L.
pages 39 - +12p., full text

The calibration of the potential method DC/PD is calculated for the side-grooved CT-sample with point current inputs. The grooves are modelled by a line transition resistance producing a potential discontinuity. The groove-less field and groove resistance parameter are found using the conformal mapping in related perpendicular planes. The goove correction to the field is solved as a boundary value problem of the third kind. The check of calibration using independent measurements of creep crack extension (in steel P91 at 600°C) reveals the accuracy of about 0.1 mm. So, the continuous monitoring of the crack growth becomes available without any post fitting of the calibration curves.
