The paper deals with a static and fatigue strength criterion based on the theory of the reference normal and shear stresses – see Fuxa, J. (2003) and Fuxa, J. (2004). The simplest relationship of the static reference strength criterion is described by equation (1). The initialization of the fatigue failure is described by equation (3) where the true tensile strength and the endurance limit are taken into account. The quality of such approximation is clear from fig’s 1, 2, 3 and 4 (data are borrowed from Bannantine, J.A. & Comer, J.J. & Handrock, J.L. (1990). The special testing machine fit for fatigue testing is also discussed.
