The numerical approach requires some simplification of continuous physical systems. The simplification is used for the object, its boundary conditions, and the time domain. The approach that uses stress energy in mechanics can analogically be applied to the finite difference method of the unsteady heat conduction with temperature dependent material properties where the boundary conditions are assumed to be constant within one time step. Estimation of discretization error of the boundary conditions in the time domain, and of mesh discretization error in both the space and time domain is described in the paper. Some numerical tests are presented and method for discretization optimization is proposed.
