The contribution deals with preliminary analysis of the rolling contact between the wheel and rail in a railway vehicle and summarizes the forces that develop in the contact patch. Develop of creep forces at the contact range of two rolling bodies is discussed. The wheel-rail rolling contact problem is studied from an analytical point of view. Determination of creep forces has a great significance because these forces govern the behaviour of a vehicle running and are very important for the dynamics analysis. This problem is solved in wide literature and it my seen unnecessary to deal with that. Unfortunately there is a lot of inaccuracy and mistakes and a precise derivation is mostly missing. The aim of this study is clear definition of basic kinematical and force relations and their sources for creation of smart imagine about this basic problem.
