Evaluation of effective thermomechanical properties of masonry based on numerical homogenization

pages 432 - +11p., full text

The present study deals with the definition of a periodic unit cell (PUC) that is constructed on the mesoscopic level of the two-scale model. The PUC serves as a suitable tool to determine the effective properties of the masonry and loading paths that become the input data for modeling on the macroscopic level. This work takes into account the impaired properties of the interfacial transition zone (ITZ). Therefore, in the proposed material model the reduced properties of the ITZ are described using the contact elements and Mohr-Coulomb law with tension cut off. The units (stone blocks) and the mortar beds are discretized using finite elements.
