So far the static as well as dynamic aeroelastic tasks have been commonly solved by using linear models of fluid flow (p-k method, DLM) implemented e.g. in system MSC.Nastran. These are reliable methods that allow fast solution of aeroelastic response of aircraft structural parts of classical conception. Together with development of the field of aeroelasticity and increasing performance of the computational hardware there is coming possibility to solve aeroelastic phenomena also by CFD-FEM coupling. With this method it is possible to predict real interaction of flow and mechanical response of the structure also in such cases when the current methods fail: aeroelastic research, solution of wings with adaptive control, flow around the thick profiles, dynamic response of the structure to the periodic eddy detaching.
