More than thirty-seven years ago the Permanent Commission for Standardization of Terminology in Mechanism and Machine Science (Commission A IFToMM) was founded. Since then the Commission underwent a remarkable development, worked successfully and produced recognized terminological documents. In the course of time from 1969 to 2007 more than ninety scientists from twenty-five countries were involved in projects of Commission A. Main issues of this paper are the commission activities area stating, brief chronological information about these activities and published work of the commission. Special attention is paid to the development of electronic dictionary of the terminology in Mechanism and Machine Science.
