The paper deals with angular vibration measurements using incremental rotation encoders. The main topic is focused at errors due to the impulse non-uniform distribution versus rotation angle of encoders. The paper introduction part is reviewing the sensors for angular vibration. The following part is focused at the hypothesis on error statistical properties. The main part of the paper is a comparison of the phase of two strings of impulses generated by two encoders rotating at the same angular frequency because both the encoders are mounted on a shaft. The finishing part of paper demonstrates the measurement of the rotation uniformity in angular velocity using the encoder and the laser angular vibrometer of the Doppler type.
