At the present time, the European Union Commission has been discussing new emission levels with the individual member countries. NOx = 50 mgm-3 and CO = 50 mgm-3 levels can be expected to be valid over the entire gas turbine operation range after 2010. Consequently, it is necessary to develop technologies meeting these limits. The paper presents the design of a newly developed combined burner, the emissions of which are lower than those expected in 2015. The results of emission measurements on a real plant for various designs are also presented. An atmospheric pressure test rig and measuring methods for low emission burner tests are presented. The mathematic modeling of emissions is based on the method of characteristic times (Plee, Mellor 1979) and semianalytical equations, which correlate analytical relations with experimental data. Both methods can be applied for the calculation of emissions, the efficiency of burning, the lean blowoff, the lean lightoff and the quality of temperature field after the combustion chamber. The aforementioned mathematic modeling methods were applied in the author’s design while the calculation results are compared with the experiment. Finally, the future development trends in the field of reducing the emission limits in gas turbine combustion chambers will be presented. Označení
