The paper provides a support for the fatigue live function, describes behavior of mortar materials during cyclic opening and closing cracks based on laboratory examinations with brickwork pillar specimens. The basic expectations on fatigue live function are introduced together with knowledge of fracture mechanics that was used for its creation. ´
