Carbon Fibre Reinforced Composites (CFRC) represent a new structural element which could increase the strength and stiffness of steel plates. The steel and composite interaction was tested on simple structural elements, which could forestall the development of fatigue cracks. The application of this material is intended to real steel bridge structures, especially to repair damages of orthotropic decks. The material characteristics with and without CFRC are investigated in the paper.
