The diffusion of the fluid particles is one of the most important fundamental problems of the research of transitional and turbulent flows. Investigating the diffusion it is very useful to let some gas stream into the main airflow to visualise the flow pattern or to imitate the action of the Archimedes force. The simultaneous measurement of the mean values, the standard deviations and the covariance of velocity and concentration of the gas mixture is possible by means of a CTA. The special hot-wire probes were manufactured for such applications. Their directional properties are the subject of the paper.
