Contemporary state of the general lateral pressure theory - active pressure

At present, a translation of the final EC 7-1 including its Annexes into national language is carried out and the existing National Annex is also translation only. A new National Annex should be drafted, because the existing National Annex is not in accordance to our knowledge and practice. The application of the Limit State Design for geotechnical non-linear tasks appears like great inadequacy (definition of material characteristic values, partial material factors, etc.). and also the earth pressure theory used. The contribution evaluates the used conventional theory of earth pressure and contemporary state of a new advanced theory of General Lateral Pressure (GLPT). Possibilities of GLPT are presented to be applied for the new National Annex of EC 7-1.
