This paper deals with the description of algorithms used for constructing finite element meshes and recognition of boundaries in the context of fluidstructure simulations. First, the overview of numerical approaches to fluid-structure interaction is given and the focus is on particle finite element method. Delaunay triangulation, which is able to generate high quality meshes, was chosen as a suitable meshing method. Alpha shape concept derived from Delaunay triangulation was considered as proper boundary recognition algoritm. The algorithms are being implemented in finite element package OOFEM to enable analysis of fluid-structure interaction problems. ´
